In mid March, North Macedonia introduced a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Among other areas, the introduction of the emergency brought changes to the merger control deadlines. Now, the emergency has been extended.

Specifically, the state of emergency in North Macedonia was extended on May 17, for additional 14 days. This is a shorter extension than the previous one, which was for 30 days. This could be a sign that the state of emergency is nearing to an end.

The latest extension of the state of emergency means that the special merger control deadlines in North Macedonia remain applicable at least until the end of May. For more information, please contact Dr. Dragan Gajin, Head of Competition at Doklestic Repic & Gajin.
